Match Report: Wycombe Wanderers 4 Leyton Orient 2 – 06/03/12

Share

Orient slumped to defeat at Adam’s Park on Tuesday night as Wycombe kept their survival hopes alive with another impressive victory at home. In truth the tie was over by half time as the hosts managed to put four goals past the O’s inside forty minutes.  Paul Rachubka made a poor start to his Leyton Orient debut as he failed to stop Wycombe’s top scorer Stuart Beavon’s effort with only seven minutes on the clock. Poor defending allowed Wycombe to increase their tally to four, putting the game beyond the visitors before the stroke of half time.

Despite a disastrous first half, Orient responded immediately after the restart through a good strike from skipper Matthew Spring. Marc Laird managed to pull another back, heading the ball home on seventy-four minutes. Experienced striker Kevin Lisbie almost managed to convert a George Porter cross late on, but the visitors had left themselves too much work to salvage anything from the game.

The O’s are now without a victory in their last four games and they will travel to Tranmere on Saturday hoping to return to winning ways. There could well be changes to the squad for the weekend if Russell Slade manages to bring in a couple of players in the wake of Jonathan Tehoue’s departure.
