Marc Laird has been released from his contract with Leyton Orient by mutual consent. The Scottish midfielder joined the O’s in July 2011 and he went on to make 29 appearances for the club, scoring two goals. His opportunities had been limited to just two appearances as a substitute this term, and as a result he joined Southend United on loan in October. He played 15 times for the League Two side during which time he scored two goals.
Following his departure from Brisbane Road, Laird has agreed to join the Shrimpers on a permanent basis. The midfielder has signed an 18-month contract at Roots Hall.
