Gary Sawyer will leave Leyton Orient when his contract expires on the 30th June after agreeing a one year deal to return to fellow League Two side Plymouth Argyle.
The 29 year-old left-back began his career with the Pilgrims and made over 100 senior appearances for the club before signing for Bristol Rovers in June 2010.
Sawyer joined the O’s in May 2012 from Bristol Rovers. In his first season with the club, he featured regularly at left back, playing 42 games. He also scored his only Orient goal in the match against MK Dons in April 2013.
During 2013/14 season he often had to settle for a place on the bench as Elliot Omozusi was preferred at left back. Despite this, Sawyer featured in 28 games that year.
Last term Gary Sawyer was one of Orient’s better performers but Shane Lowry was often preferred at left back at the start of the campaign and Andrea Dossena then became first-choice left back following his arrival in November. Sawyer continued to be a dependable player when called upon and he managed 18 appearances last term.
In total Sawyer made 88 appearances in an Orient shirt.
